Introduction
Over the past few months several people have asked me if it would be possible to have a forum on the CBJ website. I have to admit that it is not a subject that I know much about, but the need seems to be there so I have asked around for advise, and have finally opted for an 'open source' forum (phpBB3) which receives good reviews on the internet.
At this point in time, I have no fixed ideas as to how I see the forum developing - it really depends upon what people want. At present, there is just one forum - but it will be no problem to subdivide it if people what separate forums for what's on's, items for sale, etc, etc. It just depends on what people want.
Forum Rules
Firstly, I would like to apologise for the message that appears when you register to join the forum - that's not my work, it comes with the package, but I suppose that it does make a valid point that whatever appears on the forum has to comply with standards of decency and honesty.
More important from my point of view, is that I would like to see a CBJ forum making a contribution towards improving the quality of life for people in Central Brittany. My hope is therefore that postings are polite and respectful, and that people do not try to use it to settle grievences, lodge complaints, or spread malicious rumours.
Beyond that, I think that it would be presumptious of me to define any rules for the CBJ Forum, I am simply inviting people to join it and to see it they can make it into something that it is of service to the local community.
Anyone can read postings on the Forum. But if you want to post messages, you have to register.
