This is one of the first in the popular series of guide book produced by Brittany-based publishing company, Red Dog Books.
After an introduction to the history, legends, customs and culture of Finistere (the Westernmost part of the Breton Peninsular) the body of the book is arranged around 14 separate tours, each with directions and maps, and suggested places to visit.
The information in this section is particularly valuable, in that it gives lots of information about towns, villages and beauty spots in Central Brittany. This often undervalued area deserves to be more well known, and this book will help visitors discover its many hidden treasures.
A final section contains lists of places connected by specific themes: children’s activities, archaeological interests, animal and bird reserves, gardens, parish enclosures, specialist museums.
“FINISTERE: Things to see and do at the End of the World” is also fully illustrated with colour photgraphs, which complement the text.
