The Central Brittany Journal

The Central Brittany Journal was started in April 2004 in response to a need for a locally-based English-language magazine in Central Brittany. It's aim is to stimulate the local economy, promote local culture and facilitate integration. From its inception it has been popular with all sections of the local community including English, French and Breton-speakers.
The Central Brittany Journal is now the best-selling local magazine in the region, and is stocked by over 400 shops and supermarkets. Four thousand copies are printed each month, and monthly sales average over 3500.

The Journal is edited by Gareth Lewis who has lived in Central Brittany with his family for the past twelve years. He is the editor of the popular, UK-based education website, www.freedom-in-education.co.uk, and author of the best-selling education books, One-to-One and Unqualified Education.
The Journal aims to combine socially-responsible reporting  with creativity, originality and entertainment and to serve all sections of the local community.

In these times of ever-increasing prices, one of the factors that is most appreciated about the Central Brittany Journal is its one euro cover price. This has remained unchanged as the Journal had grown from a 24 page A5, home printed journal to its current, commercially printed 64 pages. Readers are aware that this is only possible due to the support of its advertisers. Two hundred locally-based businesses now advertise in the Journal every month.
